About Us
Saakshar is a non-profit organisation that has been serving the underprivileged sections of our society for over a decade. We believe than an empowered society is the way to bridging the current gaps in our economic and social geography. Our overall goal is to alleviate poverty by providing a sustained access to education, health and awareness. We do this through a well planned approach and detailed attention to our work which is carried through our focused projects on neglected issues of the needy which centre on education, environment sustainability, health and disaster/crisis relief.

Distribution of essentials to the affected areas/families. Daily meal distribution network across the city. Dry ration kits for impacted families for self-sustenance. Medical camps/ Sanitization activities.
Spreading Joy
Celebrate Birthdays and festivals with children at Orphanages. Celebrate major festivities with street children across the city. Clothes/Shoe distribution in financially backward areas.
Our team
About team
Cela
Cela has been the heart of Saakshar. She is employed with Concentrix India as a Deputy Manager -Administration and also leads the CSR arm for the West India location. Cela has dedicated more than half her life to teaching underprivileged children, helping schools byways of generating funds, and focusing on helping the needy using food, clothing, books, etc. She has been very active on her professional as well as personal front towards charitable causes. From tree plantations to ration donations, to distributing sweets during Christmas to street children, Cela is always enthusiastic to bring smiles to underprivileged children and seniors. She is a huge animal lover and works with rescued animals.
Saurabh N Joshi
Saurabh is a professional psychotherapist working and mentoring underprivileged youth for the last 6 years. He also works with Corporates as a freelance trainer /life coach. Before this, He held a rich 15 years of corporate experience with the fortune 500 such as IBM / Citigroup in various fields of Training, Operations, Transitions/Presales & Admin, and Infrastructure. In his words “ Saakshar is a small step for us in a direction towards a sustainable future. We aim to reduce our carbon footprint and protect our planet for future generations, bridging the extreme gaps which leave many underprivileged without the availability of basics such as food, clothing, and opportunities to build their lives. “ Through Saakshar we aim to partner with like-minded souls and organizations who see an opportunity to build a harmonious and co-existing life on our Planet”.
Jerry Bose
Jerry is a motor enthusiast with a flair for mechanics. He is equally active and frontrunner on every opportunity to make a difference and help a needy soul. His love and unconditional support for Saakshar have been an instrumental pillar in every activity Saakshar undertakes. He manages, guides, and educated volunteers on behalf of the team as well as his meticulous eye for detail has ensured smooth delivery and operations for Saakshar for over a decade.
Priya
Priya is the Head of Commercials, Audit, and Quality with Tech Mahindra Business Services. Over 18 years of corporate experience, with an intriguing academic background in Finance, Priya is an alumnus of DG Ruparel College Mumbai and holds a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance from NMIMS Mumbai
On the personal front, Priya is a Mother of 2 and loves traveling, cooking, fitness workout, and yoga. She is a craft enthusiast who loves to discover and preserve lost art forms. She is a trained Kathak Dancer and sees skill-building and education as one of the means to alleviate poverty. She cares about collectively building a movement of social innovators and leaders working to solve problems of poverty and social injustice.
